Government Advises to Make FSSAI Registration Process Easier
FSSAI registration or food license is indeed an elementary necessity prior to entering into any kind of activity related to the food business. An FSSAI registration is obligatory for all small scale and the high-class food business operators. The fundamental purpose behind the FSSAI registration is to ensure that protected, pure, healthy and nourishing food items are being supplied to the purchasers.
The FSSAI registration process is dependent upon the endorsement from the Government Authority, which for the most part takes a lot of time. Alarmingly, the way toward getting FSSAI registration or FSSAI license is experiencing immense postponement from the Authority end, because of which the food businesses are enduring genuine prevention. Seeing this problem, the Government has now proposed for making the FSSAI registration procedure easier than before.
1. How will the FSSAI registration procedure be made easier?
The Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has now given a clear directive to the State level Food Safety FSSAI Commissioners. In its notification dated 22nd November 2019, FSSAI had directed that there is a need to avoid the excessive documentation for the purpose of issuing FSSAI license or FSSAI registration to the FBOs.
The directive clearly states that the state-level food safety authorities must prevent from asking extra or irrelevant documents for issuing FSSAI license or FSSAI registration. Mostly, such documents are not related to the specified criteria for approval of the FSSAI registration application.
2. How to ensure correct documentation for FSSAI registration?
In the FSSAI notification, it has been clearly said that unnecessary documentation for FSSAI registration must be avoided. This can be easily ensured by the authorities by referring to FSSAI portal.
A complete list of essential documents required for all sorts of food business (FBOs) has been already motioned on the FSSAI Food Licensing and Registration System (FLRS) portal. The licensing authorities must process the FSSAI applications just according to those guidelines.
3. What if any additional documentation is required?
In any case, if the additional documentation is required or asked for while FSSAI registration process, and if the extra documents are considered essential, then the reason for the same must be given by the department for uploading those documents on FLRS portal. These reasons shall be duly submitted to Food Safety Commissioner or the FSSAI Director Regional Office for the purpose review.
4. What if frequent queries in FSSAI applications are raised?
The major problem today is that numerous queries to the FSSAI application are raised by the food licensing authorities, one by one. This causes many delays in the FSSAI registration process.
Now, the FSSAI notification, further states that inquiries should not be raised in ‘piece-meal’ way while the processing applications. Rather, the application shall be examined appropriately wherein all the insufficiencies in application shall be brought up in one go.
