Product listing on Government e-Marketplace

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM), the government-run e-commerce portal is a platform that facilitates easy online procurement of the Goods & Services that are required by various Government Departments, Organizations and PSUs.

Small traders, manufacturers and service providers need to obtain GeM portal registration as a seller in order to enter the wide and interactive online platform, so as to directly sell their products & services to various government buyers.

After the GeM registration process, the sellers have to list their products and services on their GeM login with product images, technical specifications, price & delivery details. This process is called Product listing on Government e-Marketplace. Once the product listing is approved by the GeM department, GeM products go live on the Government e-Marketplace.

Traders having GeM portal registration as the seller can then easily sell their products.

Tips to Upload GeM Product Images 

The traders having the GeM portal registration as the seller need to consider a few precautions while uploading images of GeM product on Government e-Marketplace:

  1. Upload an actual image of the product with a clean white background and without watermark, brand logos, or any sort of idenficaon mark. 
  2. Maximum Image size should be 300kb in jpg or png file format 
  3. Upload three center-aligned images of the product preferably from three product angles. 
  4. The image should comply with the technical parameters. 
  5. Do not add Product description, cerficaons or specificaons to the image 
  6. Do not upload partial product image, diagrams or sketches 
  7. Do not Photoshop the image to distort from the original image 
  8. Do not upload image of bunch of products, upload single product image i) Do not upload the images of product packaging, carton or outer box. 
  9. Product image must not bear the name of your store or company

Process of product listing on Government e-Marketplace

Product listing on the Government e-Marketplace involves several steps to successfully onboard any product or service on the GeM portal before it gets sold on the GeM portal.

The traders having GeM portal registration as seller has to specify the following General specificaons of product such as:

  • Product category & sub-category
  • Name of the product
  • Product Description
  • Brand of product
  • Product Model
  • HSN Code

Product Available Quantity

Sellers require to quote available stock on hand of the product. It allows government buyers to order products only to the extent of available stock in numbers.

  • MRP
  • Offer Price (incl. of all taxes) of the GeM products

Product Specification

Sellers on Government e-Marketplace have to provide complete and necessary technical specificaon of the product with respect to the size, height, weight, dimension, quality, color, usage, and any other parameters which are relevant to define the product.
