The convergence of the ESI scheme with Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY

Under the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme (ESI), the people of the following states will now avail themselves cashless medical treatment at hospitals registered with the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

  • Chhattisgarh,
  • Karnataka,
  • Madhya Pradesh,
  • And Maharashtra.

Labour Ministry also announced The ESI registered employees would get cashless medical treatment at 15 ESIC hospitals and medical colleges. Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh will provide this cashless medical treatment.

Helping 1.35 crore insure workers under ESI

According to the Ministry, this convergence ensures that 1.35 crore ESI beneficiaries in such districts have access to cashless healthcare services through ESI Ayushman Bharat schemes PM-JAY. Moreover, they can avail these medical services at hospitals with no need for a referral.

Ministry also announced insured persons would need only to submit their ESIC e-pehchan card or health passbook and Aadhaar card. Besides, a list of districts and enrolled hospitals under Ayushman Bharat is available on the ESIC’s website.

Eligibility for ESI Registration

ESI or ESIC Registration is mandatory for every factory and designated establishment with ten or more permanent employees and monthly wages of less than Rs. 21,000/-.
