PM Modiji launches Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan

Our Honourable PM Sh Narendra Modi has launched ‘Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan’ on 20th June 2020. The total value of this package is ₹50,000 crores.

 

Motive of PM Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan

Recently, the PM Garib Kalyan yojana cover was given for urban poor, who were hit due to the COVID-19 crisis. The objective behind the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan (PMGKRA) is to provide livelihood opportunities to the rural poor in India. These include millions of migrant labour who returned home during coronavirus pandemic.

 

Scope of Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan

The PMGKRA is a campaign of 125 days. This will be effective across 116 districts of 6 states of India:

  • Bihar,
  • Uttar Pradesh,
  • Madhya Pradesh,
  • Rajasthan,
  • Jharkhand and
  • Odisha.

The districts of all the above states have received above 25,000 migrant labour while lockdown. The PMGKRA aims to give aid to migrant labour.

Recently, the Government had also brought 7 reliefs for migrant labour under  Atmanirbhar Bharat Package.

 

Different works under Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan

The Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan will focus on 25 different types of works to provide the job and will help to create infrastructure in the rural areas of the nation. Some of them are:

  1. Provision of gas pipelines,
  2. Skill development training,
  3. District mineral fund works,
  4. Waste management works
  5. Anganwadi centers,
  6. Rural roads,
  7. Rural housing,
  8. Railway works,
  9. RURBAN Mission in rural areas
  10. solar pump sets,
  11. Laying down of fiber optic cables,
  12. Jal Jeevan works

It is highly hoped that the PMGKRA will guarantee employment to the millions of migrant laborers who are hard hit due to COVID-19 lockdown.
