Income Tax Department Launches ‘AIS for Taxpayer’ Mobile App
The Income Tax Department has launched a new mobile application called “AIS for Taxpayers”.
It is available on both Google Play and the App Store.
The aim of the app is to provide taxpayers with a comprehensive view of the Annual Information Statement (AIS) or the Tax Credit Statement (TIS), which displays information collected from various sources related to the taxpayer.
With the help of this app, taxpayers can view their TDS/TCS, interest, dividends, share transactions, tax payments, Income Tax refunds, and other information such as GST data and foreign remittances that are available in the AIS/TIS.
Additionally, users can also provide feedback on the information displayed in the app.
What is AIS?
AIS stands for Annual Information System.
It displays the comprehensive view of information for taxpayers which is displayed in Form 26AS.

The AIS displays reported value and modified value. The main purpose of this system is to show complete information to the taxpayer.
It also aims to promote voluntary compliance and make prefilling of ITR Filing forms easy.
One may also consider AIS as an extension of Form 26AS because it highlights the details of property purchases, high-value investments and TDS/TCS transactions.
How to access the AIS for Taxpayer App?
- To access the ‘AIS for Taxpayer’ mobile app, the taxpayer must first register on the app by providing their PAN number.
- After this, the user will receive an OTP (one time password) on their registered mobile number and email, which they will need to use for authentication.
- Once authentication is complete, the taxpayer can set a four-digit PIN to securely access the mobile app.

Why is it important to have a new AIS for Taxpayer App?
The newly launched ‘AIS for Taxpayer’ app is becoming increasingly important and beneficial. This is because, starting from the upcoming financial year on April 1, Form 26AS will only display information regarding tax deducted at source (TDS) and tax collected at source (TCS).
