Handicrafts are crucial in pushing the Indian home décor sector in the growing and profitable direction. The Indian handicraft industry employs millions of craftspeople.
Unfortunately, the dwindling market for traditional handicrafts has made life tough for these people. The Government of India established the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, a nonprofit organisation, to address this pressing need.
The mission of this council is to increase the competitiveness of India's handicraft exports via promotion, preservation, protection, and expansion. Members of the council have access to useful information that may be used to further improve and expand exports.
