The APEDA provides financial assistance schemes through three different categories. Any exporter with APEDA Registration and incurs expenses under the three categories as APEDA setup can claim the refunds.

Market Development

The Department of Commerce is implementing the Marketing Development Assistance (MDA) Scheme in light of the present macroeconomic circumstances, emphasizing exports, allowing various initiatives to develop and widen the nation’s export trade.

Under the Market Development category, APEDA currently provides financial assistance for growing product or design and development through feasibility studies, trial shipping of fresh horticulture items, and brand registration outside of India.

As a result, Claimants can make claims for up to 40% of the entire cost, with a maximum of Rs 10 lakhs per activity. Market Development has been allocated Rs 46 crores under the Financial Assistance Scheme.

Export Infrastructure Development

APEDA offers financial support to exporters under this program to build harvesting infrastructural development for fresh horticultural produce such as integrated pack houses, shielded refrigerated transport, portable pre-cooling units, plantain cable handling systems, and so on. Reimbursement for up to 40% of the overall cost can be lodged, with a maximum of Rs 100 Lakhs for every activity.

Quality Development under APEDA Financial Assistance Scheme

Exporters can also reimburse the cost incurred while improving the quality of products. For example, implementing food safety management systems such as ISO 22000 Certification, implementing international quality standards under ISO 9001 Certification, and acquiring hand-held devices for catching farm level peripheral position information for traceability systems are eligible for a refund of up to 40% of the total cost. However, the maximum refund is available up to Rs. 4 Lakhs for each applicant. In 2019-20, the budget for the Quality Development component was Rs 56.6 crores for quality development under APEDA Financial Assistance Scheme.
