Why is Spice Board Registration mandatory?

As per section 11 of the SPICES BOARD ACT, 1986, no business shall start or carry on the business of export of any spice from India without Spice Board Registration.

It is important to note that exporting spices without the Spice board registration may result in-

1. Confiscation of the Spice Stock in hand.

2. Imprisonment upto one year.

3. Fine upto one thousand rupees.

Spice Board Return Filing

Every exporter having Spice Board Registration must submit a return every quarter.

However, cardamom exporters are also required to do Spice Board Return Filing on monthly basis along with quarterly return filing.

Validity & Renewal of Certificate of Registration as Exporter of Spices {CRES}

1. The Certificate of Registration as Exporter of Spices (CRES) is granted for a duration of "three years" as determined by the Board.
